Our vineyards are located in the south of Pontevedra, in the subarea of O Condado do Tea (the second one in importance within the Appellation of Origin Rías Baixas). This denomination comes from Tea river, one tributary of the main Galician river, the Miño. Condado do Tea region, which is surrounded by mountains, is the most inland one and also the hotter one. The average temperature is 15º C but it can reach 40º C during the summer. Soils used to be sandy-loam ones, granitic, and with small pebbles in the terroirs next to the river.
In this area, most of the vineyards are located in small plots (here, we call this minifundio), some of them of no more than 100 m2 and where we keep our oldest vines, even centenarian ones! This is one of the reasons why most of the work is done manually. To achieve the best result, we count on the support of small growers, whose labour is very important to accomplish a rational and respectful work.
Despite that, since the foundation of the winery, we have made new vine plantations, more extensive, in order to optimise the productive process.
We normally use emparrado (pergola) system and, regarding our grape varieties, the white ones are albariño, treixadura, white loureira, godello and torrontés while, for the red ones, we have sousón, espadeiro, pedral, caíño, brancellao and mencía.
